Female voiceover >> This video will show you how to move a person in the bed with slide sheets.

The nurse or aboriginal health worker will show you what to do, and you should ask someone else to help you too.

When using slide sheets, you need to have two carers to make sure it is safe. It is better to use slide sheets after you've been shown how.

If you have them grab these things before you start two slide sheets, some pillows.

Firstly, you need to put the slide sheets under the person. Start with the person lying flat in the bed and a carer on either side of the bed. Lift and bend the person's leg. Then push their hip and shoulder to turn them over to their side.

Make sure that you roll them to the side that is most comfortable for them. Hold and line up the two slide sheets against each other.

Once they're lined up nicely, place the slide sheets lengthwise next to the person. Punch the slide sheets up and tuck half under the person.

Let the person roll onto their back. You can see that half of the two slide sheets are now under the person.

Support the person so you can pull the other half of the slide sheets out from the other side. Gently lower the person back onto their back.

The slide sheet should now be properly under the person. Now that the slide sheets are underneath the person, they can be moved into the desired position using the top slide sheet. Hold the top slide sheet as close as possible to the person's body. You may want to move the person up the bed.

This can be done by bunching the top slide sheet as close as possible to their shoulders and pulling them up the bed.

Do this by transferring the weight from your front to your back leg. You can also use this weight to move the person over to one side of the bed. Once the movements are done and the person is in the right place in the bed, the slide sheet can be taken out.

Roll the person over to the side the same way as before. The slide sheet is slippery if it is pulled underneath itself. So pull it under and work from the bottom of the person's body to the top to pull out the bottom slide sheet.

Then you can pull out the top slide sheet the same way. Finally, you can make the person comfortable. Use the pillows to get the person into a comfortable position like this. Place a pillow behind the person's back to keep them on their side. Put a pillow between the legs to stop rubbing.

Prop the person up by using pillows. Ensure the chin is extended up and head tilted forward. To make sure the person can breathe well, allow the top arm to rest on a pillow.
